We went to north central Alaska, in and near Fairbanks, primarily to photograph the Aurora Borealis.  The trip included some attempts near Fairbanks including a trip to the “Touch of Magic” sled Dog facility to photograph the dogs and take a ride on a dogsled.

We then went north east to Chena Hot Springs Resort which is well known as a great place for Aurora.  Well, were were not so lucky, but the trip was really fun.

And yes, it was cold.  Most of the trip the high daily temp was about 0 Fahrenheit and the nights we were atop the mountain, it was hovering between -15 and -20.  I have never worn so many clothes at one time in my life.  What one sacrifices for ones art!
