Unlike the images on the “People” page, all of the photos below were taken with explicit permission.  In many cases, the person agreed to pose for us, and often, we maximized the use of natural light or we used artificial lights to enhance the image.

This part of the trip is always interesting.  First, the model is a local and not a professional.  And second, we are trying to light a person using techniques that are much better suited to a studio and not a street.  That having been said, I love to do these “environmental portraits.”    They are challenging, but the reward is always significant.

Finally, I want to acknowledge the professional photographer on the trip, Stacy Pearsall.  Stacy’s understanding of light is some of the best I have ever seen.  Did I learn, you bet.  And I know that there is so much more to learn from her.
