Local festivals are an important part of Mongolian culture.  We had the opportunity to participate in two - Naadam and Tsaatan.

Naadam is a national, two day festival celebrated in mid July.  Its origins go back centuries but currently it coincides with Mongolian’s celebration of independence.

Tsaatan in a local reindeer festival that we celebrated in the north.  It is a very small local festival but incorporates some of the activities of the larger Naadam festival.
