Portugal

fall 2014

In the fall of 2014, I took a photo trip to Portugal.  I had wanted to visit Portugal for a while since it was still not a particularly popular tourist destination.  I traveled with two noted photographers, Karon Psillas who served as our guide and Arthur Meyerson, a noted American street photographer.

This trip was fun and very interesting.  Karon has spent lots of time in Portugal, loves the country, and has taken the time to understand Portuguese history and culture.  She has lived in Portugal and recently married, Carlos, a Portuguese horseman.

We started in Lisbon and traveled north to Porto visiting quite a number of towns along the way.  We photographed street scenes, monasteries, churches and lots of other interesting sites.  We stayed in pousadas, hotels that were renovated ancient palaces, monasteries and commercial buildings.  I am convinced that the only way to see Portugal through its pousadas.
