Wat Pho is one of the largest and oldest wats (temples) in Bangkok and is home to more than one thousand Buddha images and the Reclining Buddha. The Reclining Buddha is 49 feet high and 141 feet long with his right arm supporting the head with tight curls on two box-pillows of blue, richly encrusted with glass mosaics. The 10 feet high and 15 feet long foot of Buddha displays are inlaid with mother-of-pearl. Though the reclining Buddha is not a pilgrimage center, it remains an object of popular piety.
Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) is a Buddhist temple (wat) in the Bangkok Yai district of Bangkok, Thailand, on west bank of the Chao Phraya River. Wat Arun is among the best known of Thailand's landmarks. The temple is so named because the first light of the morning reflects off the surface of the temple with pearly iridescence. Although the temple had existed since at least the seventeenth century, its distinctive prang (spires) were built in the early nineteenth century.
Our small hotel was on the banks of the Chao Phraya river. Wat Pho was just down the street, and Wat Arun was just across the river. It was a great location.
Street markets can be found throughout Bangkok. This flower market was just up the street and a fun place to shoot.
