Croatia & Montenegro

Hvar is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea, located off the Dalmatian coast and is approximately 42.25 mi long with about 11,00 residents.  Mild winters, and warm summers characterize the climate.

Hvar city is the largest town on the island (pop 3,672), for many years an independent commune and major naval base of the Venetian Empire. It is a very popular tourist destination with a beautiful coast and harbor.

We also visited Split for several hours, like Dubrovnik it is a large mideavel walled city that has become a very popular tourist and cruise ship destination.  Like many european cities, as they become more popular with tourists, they lose their local flavor.
