Croatia & Montenegro

Istria is the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea. The peninsula is located at the head of the Adriatic between the Gulf of Trieste and the Bay of Kvarner. Three countries share it: Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy.  By far the largest portion of Istria lies in Croatia.

We visited the towns of Pula, Poreč, and Motovun and stayed in Rovinj.  With Venice only 4 hours away by car and having had a history of being a part of the Venetian empire, the locals speak Croatian with an Italian accent.

I think, of all the places we visited, I loved our stay in Istria most.
