The Palouse is a region of the northwestern United States that encompases southeastern Washington State an north cental Idaho.   Traditionally, the Palouse region is defined as the fertile hills and prairies north of the Snake River. Picturesque silt dunes characterize the Palouse Prairie and were formed during the ice ages.  Large areas of level land are rare in this region.

With rich and fertile soil, this is a major agricultural area.  The Palouose underwent a settlement and agricultiural boom during the 1880s and continues to be a major wheat and legumes producing area of the US.

The origin of the name "Palouse" is unclear but thought to have French or French Canadian origins.  Palouse is rural America and it’s beauty is in its simplicity.
